INTELLIGENT SHADER
One of the most important subjects in sustainable architecture is the amount of light and shade a building receives during different times of the day and different seasons. In this project, a prototype of an intelligent shader has been created that can calculate the amount of light that the building receives at a specific moment, and proportionately adjust the amount of shading. The design of the shader has been inspired by the basic structure of an umbrella, in such a way that the shading panels open and close whenever necessary. A program was written for the shader with Rhino’s Grasshopper plugin, Honeybee, and Arduino. Through this program, the intelligent shader would open or close depending on the amount of light that the shader’s sensors receive. This way, the shader can control and optimize the amount of light for the building’s interior.
